The house is situated in Barbeita a small village which boasts 3 cafe/bars, village shops, a petrol station and garage all within walking distance. There is a praia fluvial or river beach approximately 30 minutes walk which has a cafe and good restaurant, Pedro Macau nearby. The market town of Moncao and the bridge into Spain is a 10 minute drive, each of these have an open air swimming pool in the high season. Moncao holds a well stocked weekly market and there is a daily municipal market for fresh produce. Several good supermarkets are in the vicinity of the town and the larger "hypermarkets" can be found in Viana do Castelo or even closer in Vigo, a vibrant harbour city in North West Spain.
